Gaines, whose district also includes Nevada County, says the grows violate the county growing ordinance, as well as Proposition 64, which legalized the growing of recreational marijuana in modest amounts. He says many of the grows also damage the environment and pose a health hazard, with toxic pesticides and rodent poisons killing wildlife and sending fish and wildlife inspectors to the hospital. Workers at the gardens are also at risk. He says there’s a lack of state regulation. An emergency declaration would free up more state personnel to help with enforcement, possibly including the California National Guard…
