Grass Valley has a new police chief. City Manager Bob Richardson had narrowed the search down to the two lieutenants in his department, and has selected Alex Gammelgard to the position.
Gammelgard has been in the department for 11 years. A Nevada Union High School graduate, Gammelgard went on to obtain his bachelors of business administration degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Gammelgard says he’s had a lot of things to think about over the last several weeks during the interview process…
Gammelgard succeeds John Foster, who has retired after 17 years. He is expected to officially become Chief pending City Council approval of his contract at the March 22nd City Council meeting. He will receive a salary of 150-thousand dollars.
