Costs plumetted in the spring of last year, as the global crisis simultaneously brought a recession and led to a sharp reduction in commute as well as leisure driving. So, even with more four-dollar-a-gallon prices being seen, de Haan says he doesn’t expect that to discourage pent up travel urges..

And even if you don’t like the high prices, it’s also pointed out by de Haan that they have traditionally been positive economic barometers.
