The 50th annual Gem and Mineral Show is happening this weekend in the Main Exhibit Hall at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, and as usual Gem club member Lori Woodhall says there will be a featured exhibit, this one featuring a cast of a prehistoric T-Rex.
Pex Rex has been dated to be between 68 and 70 million years old and is famous because it is one of the most complete T-Rex skeletons ever found. There will also be lots of vendors at the show this year and artisans creating jewelry and demonstrations of how to carve stone and other lapidary techniques. And there’s a kid’s corner for the young ones .
The Gem and Mineral Show is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm in the main building, admission is $2 Adults, children under 13 are free and all teachers and Military are free.
