Girl Hit By Car Near Colfax Area School

Tuesday, at approximately 8:45 am, a young girl was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on her way to school.  CHP Officer David Martinez says the 13 year old female from Colfax was walking from a private driveway and began crossing W. Weimar Cross Road, directly in front of Weimar Hills School.

The 20 year old male driver from Colfax was traveling northbound on W. Weimar Cross Road, at approximately 25 mph.

California Highway Patrol officers, along with Fire paramedics and ambulance personnel responded to the scene for patient care and collision investigation.  The young girl was transported to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center by ambulance with moderate injuries. Martinez says the accident is a reminder for drivers to be cautious around schools.

The collision is currently under investigation.  Drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
