A home owner suffered serious injury when a fire erupted in his home in Alta Sierra Tuesday evening. Consolidated Fire Department acting Battalion Chief Jerry Funk says when fire fighters first arrived at the home on Godwin Court, they found smoke coming from the home and the male home owner with second and third degree burns on his hands, arms, and face.

The fire department is investigating the cause and combustibles in the home catching fire. Chief Funk says the fire flashed as the home owner was searching for the source. Medical personnel determine the injures were significant and the 30-year-old homeowner was sent by helicopter to the UC Davis Hospital Burn Unit for treatment.
