Grand Jury Critical Of Pot Environment Impacts

In their latest report issued this week, the Nevada County Grand Jury is weighing in on the medical marijuana growing issue. And they’re focussing on the adequacy of the county’s response to environmental impacts. The Grand Jury also says there’s no documentation on the Sheriff’s Department referring any environmental problems to a county department. But Captain Jeff Pettit says although they’ve been mainly checking on compliance with a county ordinance, they do also report those kinds of issues…

The Grand Jury also says that county staff hasn’t been referring medical marijuana growths that appear out of compliance to the Sheriff’s Office, when responding to an unrelated complaint. The report comes out, as the county tries to come up with a management plan, following last week’s rejection of Measure W, which would have banned all outdoor growing.
