The latest Nevada County Grand Jury report is critical of the Nevada Irrigation District. Foreman Dave Anderson says it started with a citizen complaint about fees associated wtih paying water bills. Anderson says the Grand Jury also examined the monthly collection of a-dollar-90 per-customer to offset state and county fees for mandatory reporting compliance to the State of California. It calculates that in 2019 NID may have collected over 450-thousand dollars in additional fees to cover around 399-thousand dollars in out-of-pocket costs. They recommend that the Board of Directors hold a public review of its vendor contract regarding credit card payments for water bills…
