Small Fires Near Penn Valley Now Contained

A couple of small fires along Highway 20 near Penn Valley sent smoke into the area, but were contained rather quickly. CalFire Captain Dave Bookelt says the first calls started coming in before noon (Wednesday)…

Bookelt says they used what they called a ‘medium dispatch’, which did include air attack, and resources from Grass Valley and Smartsville. The fires were along Highway 20–one near Melody Road, and the other near Poker Flat Road. The cause is still under investigation.
