Grass Valley City Council To Address Fire and Finance Positions

The Grass Valley City Council is addressing  the now-vacant Fire Chief position by appointing an Interim Fire Chief until a full time chief is in place. City Administrator Dan Holler says the item  on Tuesday’s agenda proposes current Battalion Chief Mark Buttron be appointed acting Chief.

Clarabut will also be on hand as a volunteer to finish up some of the final projects he wants to see through fruition. Holler speaks highly of Buttron’s experience.

Upon approval, Buttron’s appointment will be retroactive to August 19th.
Holler says that the City hopes to fill the vacant chief’s position with a full time employee sometime in November.

In a another personnel agenda item, the City Council will begin the process of replacing Director of  Finance and Administrative Services Roberta Raper as she moves to a position as the Director of Finance for the City of Napa. Roberta is returning to a city at which she worked prior to coming to Grass Valley. Dan Holler says Raper will be missed.

Raper was with the City of Grass Valley for approximately a year and a half.
Recruitment for the position will be begin immediately.
