With the purchase of a new engine by the Grass Valley Fire Department this year, that made an older one expendable, and now the department has decided to donate an engine to the volunteer North San Juan Fire Department. Grass Valley Fire Chief Mark Buttron says Engine 1386 has actually been in use by North San Juan Fire for awhile now…
Buttron says it likely would have been mothballed otherwise, but even though it is older, it’s still fully operational…
Buttron says Grass Valley Fire bought the engine in 1986 for 88-thousand dollars. The Grass Valley City Council officially approved the transfer at its meeting last night (Tuesday).
