Grass Valley Fire Captain Kevin Menet Resuces lost 5-Year Old Boy

Grass Valley Fire Captain Kevin Menet and the staff at fire Station one on Brighton Street had a visitor yesterday, a 5 year old boy who claimed that his mother had left him home alone. Captain Menet, being a father of young sons himself noticed the boy was well dressed and his hair was combed, not consistent with a 5 year old left to his own devices, so he talked with him.

“We in tern contacted grass Valley Police Department. The young boy took me on a little adventure. Saying he lived farther down, beyond the station. We walked down a couple blocks to Brighton Street and Butler. At the intersection I asked him, what do we do here and he said I crossed the street, he knew the rules. He said it was safe, I looked both ways. When we got to the corner of Chapel and Brighton we met up with officer Matteoni, and he knew this child’s name. The boy was quick to say that he had wondered away from the school where they had a summer camp going on.”

The boy climbed into the patrol with officer Matteoni of the Grass Valley police department and he was safely returned to the school.
