Current Vice Mayor Jason Fouyer, who was just elected to his second term on the council will likely become mayor, and will be sworn in to his new term at the start of tonight’s meeting. Fouyer says Grass Valley has some of the fiscal constraints of many small cities, but that they are on the right track…

There is no ordinance that the vice mayor automatically becomes mayor, but Fouyer is expected to get the nomination and the votes from the rest of the council. Outgoing mayor Dan Miller says Fouyer will do a fine job…
It is expected that Howard Levine will be elected vice mayor. He is the only other council member who has not been mayor of Grass Valley before. Terry Lamphier, who was elected to the council last month, will finish his term with the Board of Supervisors, and will not join the council until January.
