It’s been a tradition for over a hundred years. The Fourth of July Parade has alternated between Grass Valley and Nevada City, and this year is Grass Valley’s turn to host. Every year, the Fourth of July Committee, which is made up of the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Nevada City Chamber, and the Grass Valley Downtown Association, organizes the activities for the entire day, including the fireworks show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Grass Valley Chamber Executive Director Robin Davies says the parade starts at 11am, but you should get there early…
There’s also a pre-parade concert by the Nevada County Concert Band. Davies says there’s going to be about 70 entries this year, but last minute additions are accepted…
The parade starts at the intersection of South Auburn-North Auburn and East Main Streets, goes up to Mill Street, then down Mill, and will pause at the judges stand at Bank and Mill Streets. Parade-goers are advised to bring lawn chairs and arrive early to find their best vantage point.
