Grass Valley Man Arrested After Gunman Scare

The Placer County Sheriff’s Department told residents in the North Auburn area to stay indoors, Wednesday afternoon, while the search continued for a possible armed suspect who was arrested later that day. And the suspect had a felony warrant out of Nevada County. They were looking in an area around Bell Road, New Airport Road, and Old Airport Road. Erwin says Potwin was not armed at the time, and a search of the wooded area has not turned up any weapons. But Potwin is charged with a misdemeanor count of exhiting a deadly weapon and a felony count of making threats, in addition to the outstanding warrant. The Nevada County District Attorney’s Office had issued the warrant for Potwin for domestic violence against his ex-wife in August.
