The Placer County Sheriff’s Department told residents in the North Auburn area to stay indoors, Wednesday afternoon, while the search continued for a possible armed suspect who was arrested later that day. Erwin says Potwin was not armed at the time, and a search of the wooded area has not turned up any weapons. But Potwin is charged with a misdemeanor count of exhiting a deadly weapon and a felony count of making threats, in addition to the outstanding warrant. The Nevada County District Attorney’s Office had issued the warrant for Potwin for domestic violence against his ex-wife in August.
