Grass Valley Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges

A 69 year old Grass Valley man could be facing two charges of attempted murder after he came after two men with a pocket knife. Grass Valley Police Captain Steve Johnson says they got the original 9-1-1 call of an altercation in a residence in the 300 block of North School Street midday on Sunday.

Officers were able to identify a suspect and quickly located 69 year old Grass Valley resident Eugene Maravel just blocks away in the 100 block of Stewart Street in the downtown area..

Further details are still under investigation, according to Police. Maravel sustained an injury to his hand during the assault and was treated at the emergency room. Johnson says Maravel is still being evaluated at the hospital and may need to undergo some mental health treatment..

When he is cleared, Maravel will be facing two charges of attempted murder. As for the two victims, they were flown by air ambulance to a trauma center where they were reported doing well after their wounds had been treated.
