Grass Valley Man Leads Officers On Wild Pursuit

A Grass Valley man remains at large, after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit on Tuesday. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says his department had heard reports of what was described as “an extremely reckless driver” on Westbound I-80 onto Northbound Highway 49 through Auburn….

But Tassone says the driver, 24-year-old Peter McDonald, continued at speeds of 90 to 100 miles an hour and exited the highway at Empire Street. He says McDonalds eventually ended up on McCourtney Road, where he reportedly lives. He then crashed into a ditch not far from the Fairgrounds. Tassone says McDonald then got out and fled into the woods, where a permiter was set up and a search was conducted. But McDonald soon after reportedly stole a car in the area and has not been located. But Tassone says there were then reports of another reckless driver on Southbound Highway 49 and I-80 heading toward Roseville…

Tassone says law enforcement is also concerned about McDonald’s physical and mental state. He says McDonald appeared to be very distraught and disturbed. The stolen vehicle is described as a tan or gold Toyota Corolla. McDonald is described as a white male adult and very thin, about 6-feet-4 and 180 pounds.
