Grass Valley PD Addresses Homeless Concerns

Grass Valley Police are facing an increasing number of calls for service regarding the homeless. Police Chief John Foster says so far this year his department has had over 650 calls related to transients, homeless, squatters and panhandlers.

The Police department has instituted  a Problem Oriented Policing approach to complaints around the homeless.  Chief Foster says chronic offenders  need to face consequences.

Chief foster says Grass Valley is also working with Presiding Superior Court Judge Tom Anderson to develop a special court to handle homeless issues.
