Not only would getting rid of them, get the pills away from anyone who might abuse them, but the dropoff is also environmentally friendly by keeping people from throwing the medications away or flushing them down the toilet. Johnson says you should black out the name on the pill bottles with a marker, but the bottles will be accepted, along with any over-the-counter medications or veterinary medicines.
