Grass Valley Teens Involved in Fatal Crash in Nevada

 A roll over accident east of Fernley, Nevada yesterday morning involving three teens from Nevada County resulted in the death of a passenger who was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger who died at the scene , 18 year old Taylor Barney.graduated from NU last year.   The other passenger, 19 year old Max Talbott, and the driver, 18 year old Kevin Mass were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with minor injuries.  According to the Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen, officers were dipatched at 7:24 am to a report of a single vehcile crash on Interstate 80, about 19 miles east of Fernley.  Their preliminary investigation found a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on the freeway when the driver allowed the SUV to drift toward the center median. He over corrected the vehicle’s streering to the right and then to the left before the vehicle entered a broadside skid and rolled over several times , ejecting one the the passengers.  Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.  The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation team is investigating the crash.
