Grass Valley Tightens Park Smoking Ban

While Grass Valley’s five parks have been smoke-free for some time, the City Council has approved the first reading to amend an ordinance to make sure they stay that way. Public Works Director Tim Kiser says the current municipal code does allow for designated smoking areas in parks. But the amendments would remove that option. The change comes as Governor Brown has signed a bill into law that bans cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, and other tobacco products within 250 feet of a youth sports activity…

City officials say keeping parks smoke-free, along with the new law, also reduces the fire danger.
