The Grass Valley Police Department will be getting some help, thanks to Measure N funds…
Chief Alex Gammelgard says they will begin recruiting for those positions, which may take awhile. In addition, Gammelgard says they’ll also be getting about 55-thousand dollars for new equipment. That money will be spent on surveillance cameras, which, Gammelgard says will likely be used in the city’s parks…
The surveillance equipment is a one-time expense, but city officials forecast that there will be enough money to fund the officers for years to come. Gammelgard says the full-time officer will be the sixth to be hired with the half-cent sales tax approved by voters in 2012. The City Council approved the use of the funds at their meeting last night.
