With government rebates and other incentives, Last says more and more homes are turning to solar power. The ordinance is expected to be approved tonight, and if so, there would be a second reading at the next meeting, and then the ordinance would go into effect 30 days after that (late August).

Also at tonight’s meeting, the council is expected to approved a three-year extension for all previously approved construction projects that haven’t been built yet, modify the municipal code to provide sick leave for part-time employees under a new state law, and present a proclamation to Union photographer John Hart for his over 50 years of service. Tonight’s meeting is at 7 o’clock at City Hall.
