The Nevada County Emergency Preparedness Event at the Twin Cities Church Tuesday evening was a huge success. So many cars turned out for free flu shots that the event had to be cut off a little early. KNCO’s Paul Haas spoke with Event Coordinator Patti Carter just before 6:00 PM.
Last year the emergency exercise served over 400 people, but Tuesday night was even busier than last year.
Carter credits the larger turnout this year to a time change for the exercise.
Carter says the cars were lining up a little before 3:00 PM and didn’t slow down all afternoon.
The Health Department has learned a few things now that they have done the event for three years.
In regards to managing traffic Carter says they have gotten better since the first year.
The Public Health Department offers low cost or no- cost vaccinations periodically throughout the year. When immunizations are offered as part of an emergency drill there is no cost for the shots.
