Grocery Shop and Help the Hungry

Two local grocery stores have special campaigns this month to make more food available for the hungry. Interfaith Food Ministries Executive Director Sue Van Son says Grocery Outlet has their “Independence from Hunger” campaign underway now until the end of the month.

And Raley’s, for the month of July will double up on the donations they match in their “Food for Families” program.

Any gardeners in the community that might have extra produce are encouraged to bring it to Interfaith Food Ministries, 440 Henderson Street, on Monday Wednesday or Friday morning. Those are the days they distribute food from 10am to 1pm. Van Son says their client list is up by about 8 percent.

Interfaith Food Ministries is supported by 15 local member churches and about 50 percent by donations from businesses and people in theĀ  community.
