Mayor Dan Miller acted as the Master of Ceremonies for the groundbreaking ceremony in perfect weather last night right next to the Dorsey Drive bridge over the Golden Center Freeway. City officials were on hand, as well as past mayors, Assemblyman Brian Dahle, and Congressman Doug LaMalfa. There were also representatives from Nevada City, Nevada County government, Caltrans, and the builders of the project. After numerous introductions, and a few speeches, about a half-dozen dignitaries grabbed golden-colored shovels, and dug in…
After the brief ceremony, you could hear the gratification in Miller’s voice…
That’s the date construction actually begins. Completion is scheduled for the fall of 2014 at a total cost of over 20 million dollars, with much of that coming from state funds.
