City Development Director Tom Last says the purchase achieves several objectives.
The main issues in negaotiaons for the land involved establishing fair market price for the land as well as for damages to the remainder of the land that Tripps Auto Body Shop is located. The agreed upon purchase price is 650-thousand dollars.
Along with the purchase of the sinkhole, the council also approved the purchase of a vacant lot that will be used to complete the southern portion of the Wolf Creek Trail. The land is necessary to make the southern entry and exit points to the trail accessible for people with physical disabilties.
