A chance for the public to hear from the candidates for the Grass Valley City Council this evening. The League of Women Voters Election Forums kicks off at the Grass Valley City Council Chambers at 7:00 PM. League President Dottie Schmidt says all four candidates have confirmed participation.
The format of the forum includes questions from the audience as well as a local media panel.
KNCO, YubaNet, KVMR, and The Union will have representatives on the panel.
Candidates will prepare opening and closing statements and then questions will rotate between the audience and the media.
Candidates will not have an opportunity to rebutt an opponents comments during questions. Schmidt says candidates may choose to include rebuttal type remarks in their closing statements.
Other League of Women Voters forums include County Board of Education Candidates on September 25th at 7:00 PM in the Rood Center. Superior Court Judge Candidates Anna Ferguson and Robert Tice-Raskin square off at the Rood Center on October 2nd and Congressional Candidates Doug LaMalfa and Heidi Hall face off on October 9th also at the Rood Center. A special forum on pros and cons of ballot initiatives is scheduled for Saturday morning on October 11th at the Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley. Schmidt credits Ruth Schwarz and her committee for setting up the League of Women Voters Forums.
