The city of Grass Valley is taking steps to protect its residents as well as the look and feel of the city when it comes to expanding cellular service. Tuesday evening the council approved an emergency ordinance as well as a first reading of revisions to its existing ordinance regarding wireless infrastructure. City Principal Planner, Lance Lowe says the new ordinances will add clarity to what is allowed.
Most of the public comment revolved around the potential harmful physical side effects from exposure to 5G technology. Mayor Lisa Swarthout pointed out that these ordinacnes were about protecting local control. If the ordinacne was not updated by April 15, the city would effectively give up rights.* {04-11 wireless3b} q….create local control. :17
Public input about the technology will be taken during the next city council meeting when the ordinance is presented for a second reading.
