GV Policing Numbers Consistent with Predictions

The last 15 months have stressed all areas of community including law enforcement. Grass Valley Police Chief Alex Gammelgard shared some statistics during a recent conversation on KNCO’s On The Town. He says some of the numbers were as predicted., including a drop off of calls in the early months.

He says the numbers that went up were also somewhat expected.

He also says that robbery theft and vandalism was up. Gammelgard also clarified the sample sizes are relatively small so the percentages can vary greatly with only a small change in occurrences.
One disappointing statistic is the number of domestic violence cases.

He says it was slow ramp up as time progressed.

Gammelgard says one of the benefits of being Chief of Police where he grew up is the connection to the community, which is also very supportive of policing effots.*
