Western Sierra Medical Clinic and Rotary of Grass Valley are helping families with children get ready for school by hosting a Healthy Community Day this Saturday at the clinic.
Immunizations and dental checkups will be provided at no charge to children. Grass Valley Rotary Club President Bob Long says it’s critical that every child gets immunized so they aren’t exposed to or spread a disease at school.
Nevada County is between 74 and 78 percent of kindergarten children vaccinated and they’re shooting for somewhere from 92 to 98 percent depending on the vaccine.
Western Sierra Medical Clinic RN Supervisor, Vicki Cole-Petch says they will also offer dental services.

Long says they want to make the day fun for the kids .
There will be a barbecue, bounce house and prizes for children who complete their immunizations and the Fire Department will be there with a big truck and the CHP will have a bicycle safety course. The Healthy Community Day is Saturday Aug. 8, from 10 am to 2 pm at Western Sierra’s facility on Old Tunnel road, behind Safeway, in Grass Valley. They do ask that you bring your child’s immunization records for faster service.
