GV Rotary First Annual Gold Country Challenge Bicycle Rides

Grass Valley Rotary  is launching the first annual Gold Country Challenge bicycle rides through Nevada County on Saturday May 10th. While Nevada City is home of the Bicycle Classic Races and has been the start of the Amgen Tour of California, organized rides for the recreational rider have not been offered locally for quite some time. Bob Long with Grass Valley Rotary says their event will offer something from  the most challenging.

Rotarian Jon Byerrum says they will also have a 65 mile half Century, and a  34 mile half metric for the newer riders.

Rest stops, lunch, and dinner are  included and a Kids  ride at the Fairgrounds will be put on by BONC the Bicyclists of Nevada County. And since the rides are the day before the start of the Amgen Tour of California in Sacramento, Grass Valley Rotary is hoping people coming to see that race will attend the Rotary Gold Country Challenge.*

They’re hoping to have between 200 and 400 riders registered for this inaugural event. Find details on the website  www.rotarygoldcountrychallenge.com
