GV Solicitation Ordinance Needs Updating

Grass Valley’s solicitation and panhandling ordinance is getting updated by the City Council tonight. But Councilman Howard Levine says it won’t result in significantly stricter regulation of such activities…

Levine says those laws and court rulings relate to ensuring the safety of residents, allowing the free flow of traffic, and protecting free expression….

Solicitors who persistently harass people or who don’t have the proper permits can also be cited for a misdemeanor. Levine says he hasn’t noticed a major or prolonged increase in such activity, nor has he heard many complaints from downtown merchants.

So time was wasted on an issue that has shown no increase in complaints...... Sounds about right for grass valley. In the mean time---
