The Grass Valley Police Department is getting some new equipment to help make the roads safer and combat speeding. Police Chief Alex Gammelgard says one of their new purchases is a trailer, much like you see parked from time to time in residential areas which display your speed as you drive by. This one, however, also can do more things…
The department is also purchasing a similar device which is less obvious to a driver–it’s mounted on a pole, and will collect more significant data about speeds and traffic patterns on a particular street. Gammelgard says the new equipment will be used in different neighborhoods throughout the city…
Gammelgard says they hope to have the new devices delivered next month. The total cost is over 11-thousand dollars. The money comes out of the general fund, but was already earmarked for traffic safety. The City Council approved the purchase.
