Harlie’s Pit Crew

My apologies for not writing sooner, but I sure had a great time at the Nevada County Fair this year.  And a big reason why was our station’s involvement with the Junior Livestock Auction on Sunday morning.  Many thanks to Mr. Drew (as most call him after having him as a teacher at NU) for being my broadcast partner and Rea Callender and his staff for giving us a ring side seat to the greatest spectacle in Nevada County.  Over a half million dollars raised for our local kids by our local business and civic leaders and just loving family members.  And then there is Harlie Deschaine and her Pit Crew who stole the show and everyone’s hearts with an incredible display of love and generosity in the auction of Ammo, Harlie’s 4H project.  Over $12,000 raised for Harlie and her family and a powerful statement that the FFA and 4H community truly cares for each other and has each other’s back in good times and bad.  It was an honor getting to know them better this year and I cannot wait for next year’s Fair.
