Head On Collision on Rough and Ready Hwy

Grass Valley And Nevada County Consolidated Fire units were dispatched to a vehicle accident with persons trapped in the area of Rough and Ready Highway  and Ridge Road  Saturday about 6:30 P.M.  Fire Battalion Chief Mark Buttron was one of the first arriving units and  found a two vehicle head on accident with two persons trapped in one vehicle.

Rescue crews used Jaws of life simultaneously on both doors of the mini van to get a 66 year old man and his 18 year old daughter out of the vehicle.   The accident occurred as  18 year old Eriberto Sosa was driving eastbound in a Dodge pickup and allegedly fell asleep and drifted into the oncoming lane where his pickup hit the front of the  minivan  Firefighters and Paramedics provided care to both patients once removed. One patient was transported to an area hospital, one patient flown by CALSTAR to trauma center.
The driver of the pick up did not receive serious injures and was self treated.
