The Head Start program at Silver Springs High School in Grass Valley was holding a Fall Festival Fundraiser for the children’s program Monday afternoon. Head Start serves sixteen children birth to 3 years of age at the Silver Springs center. Site Supervisor, Brandy Pettigow, says the event has several activities.
Silver Springs Principal, Marty Matheison, is a strong believer in Head Start.
Matheison says about 5 percent of his students have children that participate in Head Start at Silver Springs while they attend classes. Students must be in attendance and on campus in order for their children to participate in the program.
It is estimated the Trike-A-Thon and Fall Festival raised over 700 dollars for Head Start at Silver Springs.
