Health & Human Services Agency Down Payment Assistance

Nevada County’s Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) division of Housing and Community Services has funding available to provide down payment assistance to qualifying individuals and families. Interim Director for the Health and Human Services Agency, Stuart Knox, says the First-time Home buyers HOME Loan program has enough funds to support approximately four low-income potential home buyers.

Gap assistance enables potential homeowners to borrow part of their down payment from Nevada County through the HOME Loan Program. To qualify, applicants must meet the requirements noted below:

  • Be a first-time home buyer.
  • The purchase price cannot exceed $246,000.
  • The home must be located in the unincorporated areas of Nevada County.
  • The buyer must meet the program income eligibility standards which range from 38,650 dollars for a single individual to just over 64,000 dollars for a family of six.

Up to 60,000 dollars is available to a qualified applicant.
