Health Order Allows for Mask-less Basketball

Just in time for the last week of middle school girls basketball in Nevada County, players are no longer required to wear masks. It has been an issue throughout the season as teams wrestled with keeping masks on during competition. County Public Health Officer, Dr. Scott Kellerman, says if players are tested regularly, they can now play without mask.

Before December 9th, all people in a gymnasium were required to wear masks, including players active in the game.
Health officials say the best situation would be in all players were vaccinated.
The order still requires everyone except players in the game wear a mask.

All schools and districts in the county are eligible for free testing resources and most have already signed up, however, according to Public Health, Grass Valley Elementary and the High School District have not opted into the program.
