A first-ever study has “at-risk for Type 2 diabetes” numbers in California. The report, from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, shows a prediabetes rate of 46-percent, including 33-percent for people from 18 to 39 years old. Meanwhile, the prediabetes rate for Nevada County is 54-percent, among the highest of all counties. Co-author, Doctor Susan Babey, says it’s mainly due to the high numbers of seniors here…

The report says 55-percent of all Californians are either diabetic or pre-diabetic. Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure and adult blindness, as well as non-trauma lower-limb amputations. It’s also a contributor to heart attack and stroke.
