High Speed Internet Info Booth at Fair

“Nevada County is preparing for the newest generation of high speed internet service.

The public is invited to visit the Internet Information Booth at the Nevada County Fair August 8 – 12.

Day after day, mile after mile, the next generation of high speed internet (also known as “Broadband”) comes closer to connecting the Nevada County region’s residents and businesses.

To prepare for this, earlier this year, the Sierra Economic Development Corp (SED Corp), formed a five county Gold Country Broadband Consortium with the mission of identifying locations of households and businesses in Nevada County  that are not served by high speed internet while  linking these individuals, businesses  and entire neighborhoods with local internet service providers.

Stop by, learn more about the local and regional high speed internet expansion and sign up to stay informed as the project progresses.    Information gathering, by  understanding your current internet service,  is a key part to the success for high speed internet service in Nevada County

At this stage of the project, the highest priority is to identify locations with poor or no internet service and your help is needed to do that!

The next important event is in September.  An upcoming announcement will list the date, location and time where the Gold Country Broadband Consortium is planning a  community outreach to further the exchange of information on locations in need of high speed internet in the greater Nevada County region. The event will include:

–        Panelists with topics including  the origins and mission of the Consortium;

–       Review the unique challenges, options and opportunities; and learn how the community can help and more…

–       Vendors will share information as to the services they provide currently
