Higher River Levels For Weekend

As recent rains and snow melt fill Lake Spaulding and causes water to spill, water flows will increase on the South Yuba River today. PG and E Spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers says that people recreating in or near this portion of the river are encouraged to use extra caution during the increased flows of cold water.

The flow will increase even more tomorrow and through the weekend.

It is normal to spill Lake Spaulding in the spring when wet weather and snow melt fills the Nevada County reservoir.  However, this  spill should be short lived due to dry conditions.  Ehlers wants to stress that the downstream water will be captured at other reservoirs that provide hydropower and water for farms and residences.
