Highway 49 Old Auburn Rd Accident Summary

A distracted driver concerned about the health of passenger let this car drift off the road, roll down a hillside and lean up against a tree Friday around 1:00 PM.  CHP Officer Greg Tassone says the driver of a sedan-type car, traveling southbound on Highway 49 approaching Old Auburn Rd south of Alta Sierra, was checking on an elderly passenger when the vehicle began to drift.

The elderly female passenger was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Alcohol and Drugs are not suspected to be involved. The accident remains under investigation.
