Hit and Run Suspect Charged with DUI

Just before midnight last night a 32 year old Grass Valley man was driving his Toyota Tacoma pickup eastbound on Willow Valley road near Nursery St. when CHP Officer Marc Morrison says he allowed his vehicle to veer off the roadway and it struck several trees, sheering the trees in half. One of the broken trees can down on a nearby parked vehicle.  The pickup continued traveling off the roadway crashing into a fence where it came to a stop. Officer Morrison says the driver fled the scene.  “A friend of the driver was still at the scene attempting to get the vehicle towed away.  Through her the investigating officer determined who the driver was and found him at a nearby residence.
The officer went to that location and determined the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and he was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident.
