Hitchhiker Catches Ride To Jail

A hitchhiker wound up in jail after a passing Sheriff’s deputy decided to check him out. Monday night around 10:00 PM a Nevada County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a man hitchhiking on Highway 49 at Combie Road. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Tripp says the deputy made a proactive welfare check on the man because of the dark conditions.

Taylor,-DavidUpon further investigation, the deputy determined that 57 year-old David Taylor was on probation and consumption of alcohol was a violation of terms. The deputy searched Taylor and discovered he was holding some sort of a narcotic.

Taylor was taken into custody for possession of the dilaudid and drug paraphernalia on top of his probation violation.
