The proceedings against co-defendants in a home invasion assault and robbery that took place in early December have had their preliminary hearing continued to a later date. In Superior Court Thursday morning, Assistant District Attorney Anna Ferguson asked the court for a new date for a felony conference against Devin Thomas and Tyler Leal.

At the new felony conference, now scheduled for April 17 at 1:00 PM, additional evidence and information will be shared and a new preliminary hearing date set.

A third suspect, a minor, is in custody at juvenile hall and Ferguson says additional suspects may also be connected to the case.
On December 6, the co-defendants allegedly conspired to assault, hog-tie, and rob a Grass Valley man in his early 70’s when he opened his door during a snowstorm to assist the suspects make a phone call. The suspects then ransacked the house stealing several items and then driving away in the victims truck. The truck was abandoned in the snow on Richardson Street in Grass Valley. The victim has undergone a number of surgeries, and has more scheduled, to correct the damage that occurred when he was struck on the side of the head with an object as the suspects entered the house.
