Home Invasion Suspect Arraignment Continued- DA Requests Case Consolidation

The fourth suspect in a Grass Valley home invasion back in December was in court this morning, but his arraignment was postponed until Monday. The postponement occurred to be sure that an attorney for 18 year old Billy Mecredy is appointed that does not have a conflict with other attorney’s representing any of the other three suspects involved in the home invasion. Assistant District Attorney Anna Ferguson says additionally she has requested a hearing to consolidate the multiple cases into one case. Initially the first defendant started in juvenile court but has since been transferred to adult court which led to the arrest of two additional suspects. Those two cases could be tried separately from the Mecredy case but Ferguson says it will be more efficient to try them as one case.
