Nevada County has now gone to a homeless count every year, instead of the mandated every other year. In addition to the ‘Homeless Connect’ event, teams of volunteers will go out into the county to find homeless encampments to get a count. They’ll also contact service providers to see how many beds are available. Last year, the count was 295 homeless in Nevada County, which officials say is high, especially related to the number of beds available.
