A houseboat caught fire on Englebright Lake this morning, and now appears to be a total loss. The call came in to Penn Valley Fire Department at 10:25 a.m. and Penn Valley Fire Chief Gene Vander Plaats says the houseboat was moored at the narrows.

The Army Corps of Engineers had their barge fire boat out there and the owner of the marina also had a fire boat on scene. The fire was put out. The houseboat was still moored in the middle of the cove but they were getting ready to tow it to the side. Chief Vander Plaats says the houseboat was an older model but the owner said it had recently been refurbished.
