Hospice of the Foothills Butterfly Garden of Remembrance

The Butterfly Garden of Remembrance is a place for people to visit to remember and honor loved ones.  Now in it’s 14th year the garden has grown to over 700 colorful metal butterflies on stakes on the grassy area of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.

Friends of Hospice volunteer Paula Bertness says people are invited to just drop by to visit during the Memorial Day weekend .  There is no cost, though donations are accepted. If you would like to fill out a remembrance card to honor a loved one, you can get one at the garden.

The cards are laminated and tied to the butterfly stakes in the garden where they will remain throughout the weekend.  People will be able to keep them after the event.  The Butterfly Garden supports Hospice of the Foothills in its care of those in our community who have life limiting illnesses and their families.  Hospice provides end of life assistance either in people’s own homes or in the new compassionate care home on Rough and Ready Highway.
